Glasgow memoirs : First look

Like a newly wed, I just held on to my husband's arm as I gingerly hopped on to the flight for glasgow.. First trip outside the country.. Feeling excited s obvious, but my top three concerns were 1. Will I be able to understand their accent( and they mine) 2. I had heard all sorts of strange stories about this land - where what is considered genuine concern in India is a crime here - like feeding your kids with your hands (properly washed ofcourse) and putting her to bed tucked in between both her parents.. I was so worried if I don't do that will they take her away or put me in a jail! And yes, the third concern was regarding my country's colonial past and the Raj days - somehow I found it slightly disturbing to be on the same land...  Yes, now I know that most of my fears are baseless.. And that the UK is different from England and Ireland and where I am going is Scotland..
4 days into this city and I am already in love with this city..  Esp. The weather right now.  Everything seems so close by and Pravin can come home at lunch time.  And the best part is nobody bothers about anyone... Or so it seems.
Life is also very easy, something which might be a common trait in most developed countries. Dish washer, automatic washing machine etc take most of the headache off me, leaving me with ample time for myself.. To explore the city and its many facets...  Trying to build up some confidence to step out alone...
